Ian Wright’s career is a story of resilience and triumph. He rose from Sunday league football to make his professional debut with Crystal Palace in 1985, quickly becoming a hero at Selhurst Park with his pace, goalscoring instinct, and big-game impact.

In 1991, he signed for Arsenal, where he cemented his legacy. Wright scored 185 goals for the Gunners, becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer until Thierry Henry surpassed him in 2005. During his time at Highbury, he won the Premier League, two FA Cups, the League Cup, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Wright also represented England, earning 33 caps and scoring 9 goals, including crucial performances in World Cup and European Championship qualifiers.

After leaving Arsenal, he played for West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, Celtic, and Burnley, continuing to show his predatory instincts in front of goal before retiring in 2000.
